Client Challenge

For over 100 years, Holland Rescue Mission has served Michigan lakeshore communities in an effort to positively change the lives of the homeless and less fortunate through Christ. The Mission’s programs have achieved substantial success and continue to grow. In fact, a vacant Menard’s building within a large shopping plaza was purchased with the intention of renovating the facility to accommodate expanded service offerings.

TowerPinkster Solution

Working collaboratively with Mission, TowerPinkster designed concepts for the building in a two-phase approach. Phase One, called Restoration by HRM,  included renovations to the former Menard’s space and will house a Thrift Store, Café, Auto Sales, Auto Repair and Recycling Center. With an open floor plan design, tall architectural features helped define the retail space from the eatery and Auto zones. New storefront windows would provide a visual connection from outdoors while naturally lighting the space. Phase Two concepts addressed the vacant retail space to the south and contained Administrative Offices and space for the Mission’s Discipleship Program. The synergies between these programs mergeed within one complex, providing a truly unique experience for men and women in need to work, learn and grow.
