Lane Automotive Distribution Center Renovations

Watervliet, Michigan // Phase One: 14,000 sq.ft. // Phase Two: 37,000 sq.ft. sq. ft.

Following a semi-truck crash into the north facade of Lane Automotive’s 416,000-square-foot distribution center and office complex, TowerPinkster and Rockford Construction teamed up in a design-build approach to renovate the facility.
The company is a worldwide supplier of parts and accessories for race cars, hot rods, classic cars, trucks, and off-road vehicles.
Lane Automotive’s administrative office area suffered structural damage to interior partitions and ceiling systems as well as significant water and diesel fuel damage on floors and walls. The design-build team suggested a phased approach to improvements, allowing the company to recommence normal operations as quickly as possible.
The first step in phase one consisted of temporarily transferring displaced staff to workspaces within Lane’s warehouse. The existing undersized IT area, although untouched by the damage, was also relocated from its original location into a new 14,000-square-foot, six-room IT suite within the warehouse facility.
This effort was completed in the Fall of 2017.
Phase two efforts entailed an entire administrative office area renovation, which encompassed space formerly occupied by the IT department. The 37,000-squarefoot space will feature updated interior finishes, new furniture and equipment, and structural improvements.
