Battle Creek Health System’s existing surgery suites were located in separate areas of the hospital resulting in numerous inefficiencies. Adding to the operational challenges, the number of actual operating rooms no longer met physician and patient demand.

TowerPinkster designed and constructed a new, expanded surgery suite that encompasses the entire supporting service areas related to the surgery department. The new surgery center contains eight new, state-of-the-art operating rooms that are networked into the hospital’s mainframe system and provide new imaging capabilities during surgery procedures. All surgery support spaces are centralized in the new surgery area providing space for sterile processing, pre- and post-op, staff and physician locker rooms, and administrative offices. The solution for the project required multiple phases to allow the changeover from the existing suite to the new surgery center.
