K-12 Education Director

TowerPinkster, an innovative architecture, engineering and interior design firm based in Michigan with offices in Indiana, and Kentucky, is looking for a talented Education Director to work directly with the business development and K-12 teams to grow and maintain new and existing client relationships. This position favors an experienced, strategic professional with drive, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a collaborative environment. TowerPinkster currently has three K-12 Directors and we endeavor to hire a fourth in our Kalamazoo Office. Our K-12 team supports and learns from others in the same role.

Responsibilities include writing proposals, attending interviews and management of our extensive list of clients to remain competitive. It also includes collaborating with the market sector leader to meet or exceed the Firm’s financial goals. The role includes managing our existing clients, leading our teams and developing and growing your professional network.

Roles and responsibilities of this position include project programming, design input, project leadership, client management, sales and marketing. The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Project & Client Engagement

  • Pre-Bond planning including working with Clients and Construction Managers to develop bond scopes.
  • Michigan Department of Treasury School Bond Loan Applications (training is available).
  • Bond campaigns working with our in-house K-12 Campaign Marketing Specialist.
  • Development of AIA Contracts once bonds pass (training is available).
  • Work in various roles within a project team which may consist of client management, programming & design concepts, quality control, project management, or any other key skills that result in successful projects and satisfied clients.
  • Attending and leading clients through the pre-bond process in conjunction with the marketing department and others from the K-12 group.
  • Connecting with our preferred contractors and construction managers to plan, develop and budget potential projects.

Business Development

  • Assist with business development efforts in the K-12 market sector.
  • Develop standard letter proposals and work with the Marketing team to develop RFQ/P proposal responses for various project pursuits. Lead and provide direction for interview presentations.
  • Assist with annual sales and help to set annual sales goals for market.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and organizations.
  • Update marketing contacts weekly and attend BD meetings as required.
  • Participate in speaking engagements and writing articles that promote the Firm as an industry expert in market sector (desirable).
  • Mentor/develop other team members in business and project development.
  • Attend industry conferences for professional growth, networking, and promotion of our services. Approximately four (3-4) times per year.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, or Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure and/or accreditation from industry organizations.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of related experience in the industry.
  • Experience with Business Development and Proposal generation.
  • Experience with managing and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Experience with all phases of project development; including studies, programming, design through construction administration.
  • Experience with various project delivery methods.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Google, and Project.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. a plus.

Project Manager

Project Managers oversee projects from the conception stage through construction and completion of the project, making sure the project meets design requirements, schedule, contractual obligations and budget goals. This includes understanding the scope of work, planning the work, organizing the team, leading the team, and controlling the project. The main responsibilities are project profitability, client satisfaction and business development.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with Principal on fee proposals, fee negotiations and project team selection
  • Assist in the development of fees based on task, market, staffing and unit cost
  • Assist in proposal development, including determining project fees, team selection, scope definition, schedule, contracts and interviews
  • Collaborate with Principal to prepare contract
  • Collaborate on design presentations and reviews
  • Collaborate with design team on technical decisions
  • Coordinate outside consultants with owner and project team, including consultant selection, fee negotiation, invoice review and communications

Senior Design Architect

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Electrical Engineer

Construction Administrator

This position is responsible to assist the project teams through the development of construction documents through checking quality and code compliance and to lead the project team through the Construction Administration phase of work. This position assists Project Managers in the construction administration responsibilities of large and complex projects.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Project Manager in review of pay applications, change proposals, change orders.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to maintain track of all project construction schedule and ensure compliance to all timeframe and maintain regular visits to construction sites.
  • Monitor an effective construction quality control program and ensure compliance to all construction regulations and prepare required documents and establish quality of all construction work for all projects.
  • Assist contractors to evaluate all contract documents and prepare reports for any deficiencies in projects and ensure adherence to all design and construction regulations.
  • Document all construction activities and evaluate progress of all projects and monitor all requests and participate in various construction progress meetings and maintain records for all construction procedures.
  • Assist with management of all project submittals and track review process through the office to insure timely response/return to the contractor. This includes review of submittals, appropriate to knowledge of project requirements, and timely return.
  • Manage all RFI’s and track process through the office to insure timely response/return to the contractor. This includes review of RFI response, prior to return, to ensure response is appropriate and complete.
  • Reviews Construction documents for quality with applicable codes prior to release.
  • Review documents to determine conformance with established Firm practices and standards.
  • Performs on-site inspections of building construction to ensure compliance with current structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes; verifies construction is according to approved plans. Coordinate site visits for various disciplines.
  • Communicate construction progress back to design team.
  • Communicate project issues or questions back to design team for their assistance in issue resolution.
  • Participate in in-house quality review process to ensure bidding documents are complete and coordinated as well as to improve familiarity with the project.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architectural profession preferred or;
  • Ten plus years’ experience in architectural profession with experience in Code Compliance, Construction Administration and Quality Document Review.
  • A well-rounded knowledge of architecture profession and workflow.
  • Knowledge of current construction techniques, materials, and practices used by the construction industry, and the ability to read, interpret and apply other applicable codes and pertinent standards, ordinances, and regulations.
  • REVIT experience/AutoCad software knowledge preferred.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, PlanGride, ProCore, etc.

POSITION LOCATION:

This is a full time position located in our Kalamazoo office e; however, may require work in both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids offices. Travel to project sites is expected and required.

Accounting Coordinator

TowerPinkster, an architecture, engineering and interior design firm based in Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky, is looking for a talented Accounting Coordinator for our Kalamazoo Michigan office. The purpose of this position is to provide accounting support to Accounting Manager and team members. This position primarily is focused on performing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • New Hire Accounting Orientation – training for timekeeper, expense reports, mileage reports.
  • Accounts Payable including invoice approval, vendor check backup and voiding checks, A/P reports, data entry.
  • Accounts Receivable including preparing client invoices, depositing client receipts, data entry of receipts, A/R reports.
  • Data entry including journal entries, timecards, general ledger entry, verification, and coding
  • Maintain filing system for invoices, purchase orders, paid checks, month end reports and employee records.
  • Update and maintain project accounting budgets and project documentation.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for creating a positive experience for employees through positive Human Resources actions and activities in support of our 90+ team members in Grand Rapids and Grand Haven office locations. Manage recruiting strategy and tasks firm wide to find the right talent.

POSITION RESPONSILIBITES + EXPECTATIONS

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AT OFFICE LOCATION (Grand Rapids and Grand Haven):

  • Manage and deliver all HR needs.
  • Execute all culture activities, events, and programs.
  • Execute engagement and appreciation programs.
  • Deliver employee welcome and orientation programs
  • Manage employee parking details and management.
  • Support education needs, to include licensure, certification etc.
  • Seek out the support and guidance of payroll and benefit specialist as requested.
  • Attend local HR networking events.

HR SPECIALITY – ATTRACTION, SELECTION, AND RETENTION SPECIALTY:

  • Develop and manage attraction, recruitment, and selection strategies.
  • Partner with leaders to understand career opportunities and create or revise position descriptions to attract talent.
  • Collaborate with managers/superiors to develop all offer letters and other selection documents.
  • Train and advise managers/supervisors on interviewing techniques and assessment methods.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop social medial campaigns for brand building and attraction.
  • Manage the candidate interview processes.
  • Design and measure results of candidate experiences through 90 day interviews and stay interviews.
  • Develop all welcome and onboarding materials to include schedules, calendars, required training, etc.
  • Maintain a database of potential candidates for future.
  • Build and complete monthly recruiting reports.

Information Technology Intern

TowerPinkster, an architecture, engineering and interior design firm based in Michigan, is looking for a talented Information Technology Intern to join our team! This position will support our internal team by focusing on responsiveness to hardware and software needs, providing workstation support, and performing routine network and computer maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have a passion for taking the initiative to tackle problems.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support users through responding to hardware and software helpdesk tickets
  • Assist Information Technology Support staff with various projects
  • Support team with user lifecycle management (user account management as well as hardware and software deployment and physical workstation maintenance)
  • Facilitate eCycling efforts
  • Organize and document unused items, administer clean up & storage
  • Assist with computer fleet builds, upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Support and maintain asset management system
  • Perform routine network and computer maintenance tasks
  • Test new technologies
  • Provide feedback for improvements
