Campaign Quarters Apartments

Rushville, Indiana // 43,575 sq. ft.

The historic Durbin Hotel in Rushville was the campaign headquarters for Wendell Wilkie’s 1940 presidential bid against Franklin Roosevelt. Rehabilitation of the badly deteriorated building served as the center point for a downtown redevelopment effort across multiple buildings spanning five years. TowerPinkster provided architectural, engineering, interiors, and landscape design services. 2 different historic buildings were renovated, one dating to 1856 (listed on the National Register), and one dating to 1894. One contains 29 apartments, and one contains 7 apartments and one commercial tenant space. This project earned LEED Certification.
