Theunissen Stadium Additions and Renovations

Mt. Pleasant, Michigan // 7,000 sq. ft.

The Cleveland Family Performance Development Center is located on the northeast corner of Central Michigan University’s Theunissen Stadium. It includes three regulation-size indoor batting cages, clay pitching mounds, floor-to-floor netting, and wall-to-wall artificial turf. The 7,170-square-foot facility is accessible from both the Keilitz Clubhouse and from the field and bullpen areas. By connecting the various facilities, CMU student-athletes and coaches have access to a fully enclosed, all-inclusive facility that includes the locker room, restrooms, training room, umpires’ dressing room, and a team meeting room.

The Performance Development Center allows players to practice year-round regardless of weather and will also CMU’s recruitment efforts as they continue to build a winning baseball program.

“In the landscape of baseball at the Division I level, facilities are very important,” CMU head coach Steve Jaksa said. “The key to this facility is that very few have it attached right to their clubhouse. We wanted that very much to make sure we were going the extra mile. When you come in here, you can study, watch video, eat, or hang out a bit. And now they have the opportunity to come into this [indoor performance center] and hit or throw or do a little drill work. That is really important.”
