Katke Professional Golf Management Learning Center and Golf Hall of Fame

Big Rapids, Michigan // 9,400 sq. ft.

Client Challenge

The Katke Golf Course is the home of FSU’s Professional Golf Management (PGM) program which was the first of its kind (started in 1975) and led to a Bachelor of Science degree in business. The combination of a highly rated public golf course and a degreed program, led the University to explore a new building addition to the existing facility for enhanced student instruction and to house the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.

TowerPinkster Solution

The new PGM Learning Center will be located adjacent to the existing Clubhouse, creating a dynamic backdrop for golfers as they approach the ninth green. An enclosed connector is also proposed to direct all visitors into the clubhouse, allowing staff to monitor access to the new facility. The building will feature two levels: the lower will contain hitting bays and a 650SF putting green. The upper level will display Michigan Golf Hall of Fame artifacts in an interactive environment. It will also provide space for year-round, temperature-controlled hitting bays equipped with overhead doors, allowing golfers to hit onto the driving range or into an option netting system. State-of-the-art technology will be installed for instructors to provide detailed swing analysis and club fitting. An overlook onto the putting green will also be featured, creating a strong connection between the two levels.
