Gull Lake Country Club

New Golf Clubhouse

Richland, Michigan // 6,900 sq. ft.

The Gull Lake Country Club (GLCC) enlisted TowerPinkster to develop its new golf clubhouse facility (aka ‘Greenside Grille’) to replace its aging facility on the golf course property. The existing facility was built in 1937 and through an initial evaluation, it was determined to be obsolete and cost-prohibitive to renovate. The desire was to nestle the new building into the property and preserve the large trees. The overall goal was to create a state-of-the-art facility to enhance the member experience and expand amenities and year-round use of the facility.

The new 6,900 square-foot clubhouse features locker rooms, a private training/fitness room with a group fitness classroom, a golf simulator lounge (TrackMan equipment), concierge services (shoe shine, etc), and a full kitchen. There is also a vibrant bar and restaurant space (seating 80+) overlooking the 18th green that offers the membership a second venue on the property for dining, events, and private parties with an outdoor patio viewing down the 10th hole. In addition, our design team provided an exterior color palette to visually unite the nearby pro shop/cart storage facility.

The project phasing was unique due to schedule, site, and cost constraints. The existing building was demolished at the end of the 2018 golf season and the new facility was constructed in the original location with some minor site work improvements, including a new entry plaza, new cart paths, and a new service drive to the kitchen. The design documents were phased to allow for early bid packages for site work, footings/foundations, and structure to accelerate the overall schedule of the project.
