Client Challenge and TowerPinkster Solution The challenge was to design a collaborative, technologically sophisticated, LEED-certified office within an existing historic structure in downtown Kalamazoo. Designers planned flexible collaboration spaces in the open floor plan adding a bridge over the buildings central core for circulation. Material finishes were selected to comply with LEED certification as design intent. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the office with natural light allowing sensors to limit the use of additional lighting. TowerPinkster’s office became the first LEED-certified facility in southwest Michigan and the first in the state for an architecture-engineering firm.
