YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo

As part of a master planning effort by TowerPinkster, the YMCA facility on Maple Street was in need of facility improvements. TowerPinkster created a design that would bring new functionality and place-making to the space. The project includes a new south entry, membership desk, kid zone, and multipurpose room which encompasses 6,100 SF of new construction. Another major component of this project is the removal of the existing warm pool and the addition of a new, zero-clearance entry, aquatics training pool. The addition contains three separate modes of aquatic play, exercise, and swim lanes and a full-access locker area at the north end of the building. An interior refresh of finishes and light construction in the new youth and family area, lower-level wellness, and social areas will also be undertaken to rezone and repurpose areas within the existing shell. Work for these zones of space will be mostly focused on new lighting, finishes, and wall reconfiguration.
