When choosing the delivery method, some key considerations are: Physical Site: All buildings are within sight of each other on the same campus. There are no obstacles like roads, utility poles, trees, or buildings to consider. Connectivity Requirements: Frequency of connectivity needed. Ex. The buildings need connectivity only a few months of the year, typically just a day or two each week during sporting events. Reliability: The network must be dependable to avoid potential revenue loss and ensure a positive user experience. Budget: Cost is a critical factor; the solution needs to be functional yet affordable. The ideal choice would typically be fiber optic cable for its high speed, extensive bandwidth, and reliable connectivity. However, budget constraints and potential complications of installing fiber (e.g., underground conduit installation and possible disruption to athletic fields) may make this approach less feasible. RECOMMENDED SOLUTION: POINT-TO-MULTIPOINT WIRELESS SYSTEM A Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) wireless system can be the optimal solution, meeting budget constraints while delivering: • Cost-effectiveness: Provides the necessary functionality without the high costs associated with fiber installation. • Reliability and Scalability: Offers dependable connectivity from day one, with enough bandwidth to accommodate future device additions. Recently, we completed a project for a client where the Point-to-Multipoint wireless system successfully met the client’s requirements, enabling audio paging from the main building to athletic fields up to 1,000 feet away—enhancing campus security. During athletic events, staff were able to use mobile devices as POS systems, providing seamless transactions and a positive experience for customers. Previous Post
